A time to transform

“Within you is the power to rise above any situation or struggle, and transform into the brightest, strongest version of you ever.”

transform

I found this lovely quotation and it seemed apt. I have struggled to find out who to attribute it to, as there were so many different sources, so perhaps the power of the words and the power of social media have combined to both immortalise and anonymise them. Nonetheless, it seemed fitting for the start of spring with its themes of rebirth and renewal. In addition, the butterfly is always symbolic of transformation, and so the image and the quote seemed like a good pairing.

We took a few of these images and I have used one of the others on my blog before. Although this one is similar, I have added a different filter to change the feel and I suppose that fits in with the idea of regeneration, and of adapting and changing, to work with what you have. I like the sense of opportunity which comes with the spring. The period of enforced isolation we are all currently going through has meant that I have become very much focussed on the small things around me.

I feel that the pace of life has slowed enough for me to appreciate some of the things that I might have missed before. It feels simpler, and with that has come a time of reflection which has allowed me to adapt somewhat to the various changes that have come along. I would not say that this has finished and each day brings a new challenge. This has been a difficult in many ways, but in others, I hope that it will leave me stronger, and maybe even brighter.

There have certainly been lots of elements which have led to me struggling in a number of areas, and I am not naive enough to think that I am really over the worst. But what I do hold on to is that fact that I have the power to rise above it. That belief is nestled deep within me and is part of my ability to morph and change through learning which allows me to be the best version of myself.

Change is difficult. It can feel isolating and lonely and confusing, but the process of making sense of it, of taking stock of what you have and making the necessary changes allows you to grow, and sometimes that is just what we need. We are not designed to remain static. It is important to use your creativity to fly, and although sometimes you don’t know exactly where your wings will take you, you usually know when it is time.

  1. This is beautiful, the image is gorgeous and the edit gives it a mystical feel. Thank you for taking part in the photo meme, and for writing a very poignant piece. Changing into the best brightest version of ourselves is something we should all aspire to.

    Take care

    Sweet x

  2. Your post speaks volumes to me today. I love the image and it is a reminder that nothing is constant and I can maintain my submission and my serenity during the most challenging of times. We were experiencing many life changes before the pandemic and it is forcing us to make more so it’s uncomfortable. The concept of changing as metamorphosis is uplifting and inspiring. xo elskling

    • Thank you Elskling. I think there is change all around us and the shifting sands of the current times make it really hard. I am trying to be kind to myself and make allowances for a new normal on one hand, at the same time as making sure I am not letting go of things which actually matter and are I have worked for. I seem to swing between the two somewhat. missy x

  3. Sometimes change is exactly what we need to bring us back to our core values. I love this piece, and love your image!

(Incidentally this afternoon I wrote a short piece on change too. It will be up tomorrow.)

    • I look forward to reading your piece and agreed about being back at the core values. I feel better for it. 😊

  4. Wow, what an amazing picture. It’s so creative and captured and edited beautifully. I’m a little mesmerised by it to be honest.

Change is difficult indeed, but I like the comparison to a butterfly, especially because when a caterpillar changes, something even more beautiful comes along and perhaps the current changes will do that too, eventually.

  5. that’s I need right now: rise above the situation, and transform into the brightest, strongest version of me… thak you for reminding that, Missy!
