A little while ago I was contacted by a representative from a company called Svakom and asked if I would be prepared to review one of their vibrators, the Siren. I hadn’t heard of Siren or of Svakom so I went on to have a look. I have to say that I was pretty impressed by their website and also by the range of their toys, which seemed to have an innovative edge to them. HL certainly has his eye on a couple but the proof of the pudding is always in the eating, so having looked around, I got back to them and agreed to do a non-biased review in exchange for the Siren.
From what I can gather, Svakom are a US based company who are looking for growth in the UK market. If you would like to know more about them then you can read their story, and their list of accolades here. I am not a proper sex toy reviewer and don’t even use that many sex toys so this review is just based on my own experience. In addition, I am probably older than many of the regular consumers of sex toys and always think I am quite set in my ways. Call me boring (you wouldn’t be the first) but I know what I like and if I find something that works I am always happy to stick with it.
In terms of masturbation, what I like is something which will gradually increase the sensation on my clit with a constant vibration pattern. I know that the trend is for multi pattern toys and, on occasion, I have been tempted to flick through a range of settings, but at the end of the day I will always return to the basic buzz and, if the toy is any good, slowly lose myself to a slow building orgasm. I don’t want too much too soon, but I do need something which has quite a bit of power behind it to get me to the final throws.
The Siren is a cool looking toy, reminiscent of a tulip. It arrived in pretty packaging and had a handy velvet-feel storage bag to keep it in long-term. Svakom tag the Siren as an Intense Double Tongued G-spot & Clitoris Vibrator and, being a creature of habit, it was the clitoral stimulation that I was interested in. The double-tongued design is on one side of the vibrator and the G-Spot end is the other. When I felt the tongued ends they felt far more floppy and flexible than I had expected. I didn’t really think that they would provide the intensity I needed to get off, but boy, was I wrong. Small and floppy they might be, but once switched on, the vibration was anything but flimsy.
I was also able to build things up if I wanted as the Siren has 3 intensity levels, although I have managed a pretty good orgasm on the first setting on a good few occasions so far. Svakom say that although it is specially designed for clitoral stimulation, it can also be used on other sensitive areas on your body. I haven’t tried it anywhere else yet, creature of habit-ism again, but I can see that if you enjoy nipple stim then it could be really good for that too. I actually used it on the head of HL’s cock and have to say, it seemed to do the trick there.
Playing together didn’t work quite so well when he used it on me as it was really intense and I found it was hard for him to get just the right place and the right pressure. If you like being aroused by something more sporadic then it might work well, but for me, it was better experienced as a solo toy. It is pretty quiet so I was able to use it even with ears in the next room which really is a must for me, and another thing I liked was the fact that it is rechargeable, making it portable and easy to use.
I had a quick play with the g-spot end which has a soft and flexible rounded head. It has 5 different modes with 5 different levels of intensity so is pretty versatile, but I quickly returned to the tongues as they felt so damn good that I wasn’t so interested in trying anything else. This toy is a winner for me and is something that has quickly become part of our collection. It is easy and fast to charge and has become my current reach for toy, sat in its little storage bag on my bedside table waiting for me each day since it arrived.
The Siren is fully waterproof so very easy to clean and would also work well for fun in the bath, shower or hot tub. It retails at $109 (about £93) which isn’t cheap, but I feel it is a toy which I would use a lot so would get the value of. It is the first toy of its type I have tried so can’t compare it to other cheaper models on the market, but I was impressed by the way that the Siren worked for me. It is made of soft body-safe silicone and feels like a luxury toy that I will enjoy using in the future, so watch this space.
